History

A high-quality history education will ensure all our children gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world.

As Historians, our children will be encouraged to ask perceptive questions, to consider what they already know and make links. They will be supported to choose what and how to research, in collaboration with their peers. They will critically examine sources and evidence, establishing clear and coherent narratives through civilisations, empires and communities across both Britain and globally. With this knowledge, they will develop perspective and judgement, explore change, identifying contrasts and trends over time and recognising how the past impacts upon the present and our futures.

Through the teaching and learning of History, we help children understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
