Relationship, Social, & Health Education

Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is recognised as a vital part of a child’s education, ensuring they are ready for the social and emotional challenges of growing up. Through the RSHE curriculum, we aim to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and values they need to enjoy happy, healthy and safe lives and be responsible citizens of the future. We want all our pupils to enjoy positive relationships and to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing both now and in the future.

To ensure quality-assured lessons, we follow the PSHE Association Programme of Study. Our intended RSHE curriculum is taught through a two-year cycle ‘spiral curriculum’. This approach means that pupils will gain knowledge, develop values and acquire skills gradually by re-visiting core themes to build on prior learning. RSHE will support the school’s commitment to safeguard pupils through an  age-appropriate curriculum that prepares them to live safely in the modern world. The curriculum may vary in response to emerging issues and to reflect the rapidly changing world in which our pupils are living and learning.
